The top row starts with Dashboard, followed by five groups: Holdings, Market, Records, Analysis and Manage. Pick one, and its pages appear in the row below. When the text says Records → Trades, click “Records” first, then “Trades”.
We suggest going through the chapters in order once: set up accounts and instruments first (chapters 4 and 5), then record trades and dividends (chapters 6 and 7). The reports will then fill with numbers on their own.
Want to see the reports first? In Manage → Account click “Create demo account”, then switch to it from the account menu at the top right (see chapter 23). Delete it when you are done. Your own data is not affected.
Installing and starting
How to install the three editions (installer, portable, launcher) and where each keeps its data is covered in “Installing and starting” in the STOCKings quick guide. In short:
Windows installer: run STOCKings-Setup-version.exe, then open STOCKings from the Start menu. The Start menu also has this tutorial and the quick guide.
Portable edition: unzip it and double-click STOCKings.exe. Your data goes in the data folder next to it (macOS has no portable edition: open the .dmg and drag STOCKings.app into Applications).
Launcher edition: in Launchers, double-click “啟動 STOCKings” (Start STOCKings) for your operating system. Your browser opens automatically.
If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC” the first time, click “More info” → “Run anyway”. If macOS says it can't be opened, click “Done”, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click “Open Anyway”, then enter your password (since macOS 15 Sequoia, right-click → “Open” no longer skips this). You only need to do this once.
